Ethiopian Airlines flights departing Nigeria, and its flights into Nigeria, are covered by Part 19 of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023 — the rules apply to the route, whatever the airline's nationality. On an international flight, compensation is 30% of the ticket price. Flights by Ethiopian Airlines that do not touch Nigeria are outside what we act on.

Per passenger. The regulation states the 30% compensation against delays of two to four hours; for longer delays it lists meals and accommodation, so whether compensation also applies is something we review rather than promise. No compensation is due where the airline proves extraordinary circumstances.
A claim goes to Ethiopian Airlines first. If it stays unresolved, Part 19 allows a complaint to the NCAA's consumer protection directorate, which we can make for you on your written authority. On a flight into Nigeria, the rules do not apply if you already received compensation in the country you departed from.
