Arik Air flights within Nigeria, and its flights to and from Nigeria, are covered by Part 19 of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023, enforced by the NCAA. The regulation gives three separate remedies, each with its own trigger: care while you wait, a refund or re-routing, and compensation. Compensation is a percentage of what you paid for the ticket — not a fixed naira amount — and on a domestic flight it applies to a delay only where departure is more than six hours late.
| Domestic delay of 2 hours or more | Refreshments and calls |
| Domestic delay beyond 3 hours | Refund or re-routing |
| Domestic delay of more than 6 hours | 25% of the fare |
| Domestic cancellation with under 24 hours' notice | 25% of the fare |
| International delay of 2 to 4 hours | 30% of the ticket price |
| International cancellation with under 7 days' notice | 30% of the ticket price |
| Denied boarding | 25% domestic · 30% international |
| Downgrade | Fare difference + 30% or 50% |
Per passenger. Compensation is on top of your right to a refund or re-routing. The airline does not have to pay compensation where it proves extraordinary circumstances that could not have been avoided, and may halve it if it re-routes you to arrive close to your original time.
A claim goes to Arik Air first — Part 19 requires that. If it stays unresolved, the regulation allows a complaint to the NCAA's consumer protection directorate, which we can make for you on your written authority.

How claiming works
Check your flight
Two minutes, free, no obligation. The checker applies the rules to your route and tells you what you may be entitled to.
We put the claim to the airline
With your signed letter of authority, we send the airline a written claim citing the regulation, and escalate to the regulator if it stays unresolved.
You're paid if it succeeds
If the airline pays, our success fee comes out of what is recovered. If it doesn't, you pay nothing.
